Day 60

Erin told me this morning that our baby is the size of the peach. So says the various websites she's been reading. Thats a pretty big jump from only being a couple centimeters. Is the baby really growing that fast... or are we talking about a very tiny peach? Erin is definitely starting to show in her belly. More so when you can see her stomach without it being covered. We're getting very close to Erin needing so "real" maternity clothes as opposed to just wearing my workout pants or sweatpants. That reminds me that I should take another picture of Erin for the pregnancy album.

Day 56

The other night Erin put my had on her stomach and said, "can you feel that". No she didn't think the baby was kicking but she did feel like her body is starting to show a little. I don't think it will be really profound until another month goes by, but I am excited to have Erin's pregnancy be visible. Honestly, I am anxious anytime a milestone happens because it confirms that the baby is developing normally and is healthy. Our next appointment is in a few weeks, but I don't think we are due for another ultrasound until closer to the end of the year. I did start taking pictures of Erin from a side profile to start putting together to show how her body is changing over time. I've read that it will be neat to lay all of the images out at the end of the pregnancy.

Day 52

Yesterday was my birthday and Erin got me a few really cute and interesting books. Two of them were about bears that I can read to the baby when he/she gets older!! :)

She also got me a book by Rachel Ray that has 30 minute meals that is called "Guy Food". Can't wait to try some receipes out of that.

The other book that I really liked was all about things to keep in mind as a "father-to-be". She knows that I like to read so these were perfect. I am also happy she didn't go crazy and spend a lot of money on a gift (for obvious reasons).

Erin made me a special Chicken Pot Pie dinner which was very tasty, and then for dessert I had an apple spice donut (my favorite) which Erin put a candle in. Then we shared one of those new dunkin donut Super Mega Cookies. It was soooooo good!

We are almost done with our costumes for the halloween party on Saturday at Matt's house. I still have to glue some of it together. It's going to be a blast!

Day 50

We finally got our thank yous for the wedding done (well almost). I have few more addresses to look up. I was trying to go back and forth with Erin about what people's last names were. She wrote all of the thank yous but mostly used first names. Anyway she was fading in and out of consciousness the whole time and I felt bad that I kept waking her up asking questions. Hopefully, Erin's energy will return shortly. Her mom called and Erin told her all about her visit to the Quest Diagnostic facility yesterday morning.

She wanted to get it over with early in the morning so she made sure she was there at 6:30 when they opened. It took a little while and when it was finally her turn she saw how many vials of blood they were going to take. Erin gets queasy about giving blood in general and this only made it worse. She said that part of the way through she almost fainted and the nurse had to call for back up and one of them said "We're losing her!". I'm sure it was said to be funny but they treated her with some cold compresses and she made sure to eat a cereal bar when she was done. I hope they don't need her to give blood often, but I am pretty sure they do.

Erin's next appointment isn't until the first week of Novemeber and I don't think there will be an ultrasound then. Stay tuned.

Day 44

Today we got to see our "munchkin" for the first time. Even though the baby is only about 3 or 4 cm long right now we were able to make out where the head was and that it had all of its arms and legs. The nurse that did the ultrasound also said that heartbeat looks normal and healthy. It was sort of surreal to see the baby and it put most of our fears and worries to rest. It also sort of legitimizing the pregnancy. I mean, we were already convinced it was real, this just made it feel even more real (if that makes sense). Erin was very giddy when we got home from the doctors office and we spent the rest of the day email the pics and talking with family on the phone. We honestly can't wait until May!

Above is one of the images from the visit. To see all of the pics a little closer up go to HERE.

Day 43

Last night Erin and I planned on going on a nice walk since the weather was so beautiful. I got done with dinner and then sorta lounged around. We waited a little too long and it got dark out. Then Erin got on the phone with Heather and our plan fell apart. I was going to go on a run later but Erin said since I didn't walk with her, I wasn't allowed to run (she makes so much sense soemtimes). We both probably should be exercising more. I know Erin has very little energy right now but I think it will help her keep her strength when she starts putting on more weight, etc. I try not to push it though cause then Erin gets self-conscious. I am going to try working out more at least, if I can find the time.

Anyway, tomrorow is the big doctor's appointment. I am working from home to make sure I am there on-time. Erin is leaving work early to make the visit. Hopefully we will get some questions answered and get to hear/see the baby!!!

Obviously, I will post anything that I find out.

Day 38

Lately Erin has been going up to bed around 9ish. I usually do some stuff before heading up to bed. Last night i did a few loads of laundry. I probably should have tidy the kitchen up a little more. Erin is a little nervous about the house being clean because we are having the new dining room delivered on Saturday and Erin's mom (Fran) will be there house sitting. I'll have to make sure to unclutter the house tonight after bowling. Oh yeah, we are doing a bowling leaugue Tom and Chrissy for the fall. Should be fun! I hope Erin doesn't fall asleep on the lanes.

I also found out yesterday that Johnson & Johnson has their own CareConnect service for expecting couples. I was told by Erin's OBGYN to contact Aenta for their Mother to Babies program. Once I called I was directed to J&J's service which apparently assists with the same kinds of things but is more accessible and a little more invovled. A good perk I guess! We'll be getting a call from our personal nurse shortly after our first apppointment with the doctor on the 11th.

Day 36

We found out yesterday that are new appointment to find out all about the baby with the nurse/doctor is Wednesday October 11th. Apparently the first visit is over an hour so that is why it was so hard to get scheduled. Future appointments will only be about 15 minutes each so it will be easier to get "squeezed" in. So the sonogram pictures and hearing the hearbeat will have to wait until next Wednesday. Luckily I have the guys annual golf outing this weekend to look forward to so it will be make the next seven days go by a lot faster.

Day 35

We found out that our appointment for Erin's first prenatal exam had been canceled becasue the nurse that was taking care of us called in sick. Originally the office tried to give us an appointment at the end of the month but then another nurse called me back and said that we really needed to come in sooner than that for certain tests. I tried to explain that we knew that but Erin's schedule is limited and she has a hard time taking days off (she only gets two all year!). Anyway, I think she's worked something out where she will be able to do half a day and make an afternoon appointment next week.

I was so upset that we didnt get to go yesterday... I guess that's a good thing since it means I am very exicted. It also means that I am very nervous to find out that everything is normal and okay with the baby. I assume that is pretty par for the course. Erin said that she feels the same way. We'll keep you posted.

Day 34

Today we went furniture shopping with Erin's mom. We decieded that it would make our house look a little more compelte if we finished off the first floor. That meant a new dining room table and nice rug to put underneath it. We found one that we really liked it it was pretty reasonable.

We are are also very excited about our first appointment tomorrow night for the pregnancy. Hopefully we'll get some of our questions answered and maybe even get to hear the babies heartbeat.
