Day 94

We got the estimate for getting our basement finished the other day and it looks like its going to be manageable. We might need to take a out a small loan just so we don't max out our savings. Its almost a definite because we need a place to put all of our office furniture and the futon that is currently in the "office" upstairs. The new office will be in the basement which will make way for Munchkin's furniture. Still need to figure out how we are going to get all of that but we still have plenty of time.

On a side note, I found out last week that I get to go to California for work for a whole week. Actually, I will be near San Fransciso. Erin is not all that thrilled about it but she will probably end up staying with her mom for a couple of days.

Day 84

Last night we started a new ritual. Since Erin's back is startin to bother her more shes been using the heating pad. But now, she's read and been told that she shouldn't lay on her back when she sleeps or rests. That posses a problem if you want to have the heating pad actually do anything. The new ritual is Erin laying on her side with the heating pad behind her, then a pillow behind the heating pad, then me behind the pillow, press up tightly. This keeps her back warmed up and allows her to sleep on her side more comfortably. Sounds good in theory right? Well, now my back and neck are starting to hurt from sleeping on my side :) guess I'll just have to deal with it for now, as I imagine that Erin's back pain is only going to get worse.

We also found out the price for finishing our basement. It looks like we might just go ahread and do that one room for the office for now. Although, some have said its better to do everything at once and just get it over with. Erin was showing me some bed spreads for the baby last night. She suggested that we should just go a little on the girly side with them and if turns out to be a boy then he'll just have to like pink ;). I don't know if I like that idea.

Erin also said last night that she wants to start excercising (at least a little bit) so she doens't gain too much weight. I think she looks fine but its always good to be healthy right?

Day 79

We have had two people come to give us estimates on finishing off our basement. We are looking to add at least one room for an office so that we can move all of the things in the upstairs office now and turn that into the baby's nursery. We'll have to figure everything out to see what the best options are but at least we are moving that along and giving ourselves plenty of time to get the baby's room set up.

Erin also went shopping with her mom this past weekend and got some more maternity clothes (which look very nice on her by the way). Not to be cliche but a woman really does look even more beautiful when she's pregnant. Maybe its an emotional thing, but I am always very exicted when we are laying on the couch together at night and we talk about the baby (a.k.a. little munchkin).

Day 74

We had our next appointment with the doctor's office. We got to hear our baby's heart beat for the first time. I got a little anxious when they couldn't find it at first but they looked a little lower on Erin's stomach and there it was! It was about 150 bpm which is the doctor said "is healthy and normal". Our next ultra sound in a few weeks will be even more detailed than our first one. We still want to keep the gender of the baby a suprise. Although, I think Erin is wavering a little. She seems to think that there aren't enough neutral patterns for baby's bedspreads out there. I think that a silly reason to not keep it a surpise :).

Erin is really starting to show, and with that she is starting to complain a little more about her back. Erin does have a pretty low threshold for pain so I'm sure I am in store for lots of lifting and moving stuff around and massages. I think I am up for the challenge.

Day 65

Last night Erin decided that she could no longer sleep on our master bed. It's the one we got from my uncle when we moved in. It was pretty new and I thought it was very comfortable, but Erin's back has been bothering her more and more and she prefers her old mattress which is much firmer. I can only imagine it is going to get worse as she starts to show more. I guess we will have to look into getting a new mattress and moving the one we have now the guest room. We also need to start looking into getting estimates for finishing the basement (at least one room) for when the baby is born. The office is going to be cleared out and made into the nursery. It seems like we still have a lot of time to get this ready, but I know that Spring is going to be here before we know it! Okay off to look up mattress prices ;)
